Alchemy was never about gold. It was about what has to break down before anything can become something else. Cream, ochre, terracotta, plum, and soft blue laid across an open ground, scraped back in places and built up in others. Scratched line and drawn script run through all of it. Heavier blocks of color anchor the right side while the left stays thin enough to show what came before.
The word alchemy is written into the surface at the left edge, the one thing on the canvas that stays legible. The ground never closes. Everything here is still in process, which is the accurate state of the work the title names. Wide, warm, and open. It carries a long wall without filling it, and the restraint makes it easy to live with in a room that already has something to say.
