Wu wei is the Taoist term for effortless action. Not passivity. Moving with the current instead of against it, so that nothing has to be forced. Blue sweeps across the whole canvas in long curved strokes, cut with navy, olive, ochre, and flashes of orange. The paint is loaded and the passes are single, no corrections, no working back into them. Drips fall wherever the brush left off. There is no script here and nothing drawn. Only the gesture, and the record of how fast it went. Wide format, cool palette, all movement. It carries a long wall and reads from across a room.
