Every mark here rides another mark. Blue script over rose, rose over ochre, ochre over cream, and white drawn line over all of it. Nothing on this canvas was given its own ground. Each layer borrowed the one beneath it and kept going. Dusty rose and gold hold the field, cut with sky blue, brown, and black at the lower edge. Two pale pink curves run up through the center, wide and unhurried, the only strokes that carry weight rather than sit on it. Drips fall the full height.
A piggyback is what happens when the thing underneath agrees to hold you. Fifteen layers of agreement, and the painting still stands up. Tall, warm, and busy in a friendly way. Rose and gold at this scale make a room feel lived in rather than decorated. It suits a bedroom, a stair landing, or a wall people pass close to.
